BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – Civic Match, powered by Work for America, is partnering with FedsForward to hold a resume workshop for the 9,000+ outgoing federal workers using the Civic Match platform. The partnership will provide jobseekers with relevant resources as they search for their next role in state and local government, all while reinforcing Civic Match’s core mission to keep skilled federal talent in public service.
The Translating Your Federal Skills for State and Local Government Careers resume workshop will provide outgoing federal workers with tactical approaches to translate their skills in ways that resonate with state and local government employers. Participants will gain insight on how to use generative AI to translate their experience and explore how their federal skills add value in state and local government roles.
“Decades of public service shouldn’t get lost in translation,” said Caitlin Lewis, Executive Director of Work for America. “This workshop is about helping federal workers tell their stories in a way that opens doors to continued impact at the state and local level.”
"We're excited to partner with Civic Match to help federal professionals translate their proven skills to state and local government, where their expertise can make a meaningful difference in their communities,” said Karen F. Lee, Co-Founder of FedsForward.
The resume workshop will be held on Tuesday, June 10 from 12 PM - 1 PM ET.
Registration for the resume workshop is full.

About Civic Match
Civic Match is a national talent platform launched in November 2024 by the nonpartisan nonprofit Work for America to keep great public servants in public service. Originally created as a simple Google Form to support displaced federal appointees after the 2024 election, it has since evolved into a robust infrastructure addressing one of the most urgent issues in government today: the public sector talent gap. The platform provides free tools and services to connect experienced civic talent with hard-to-fill roles in state and local government—including a national resume bank and virtual and in-person hiring events, with plans underway to explore AI-powered job matching soon. Since its launch, Civic Match has grown rapidly: over 9,000 federal workers from all 50 states have joined the platform, nearly half with more than a decade of public sector experience. Civic Match is already working with over 200 state and local governments—including at the gubernatorial and mayoral level—to fast-track hiring and address staffing shortages. The platform has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, NPR, CBS News, CNN, Bloomberg, Politico, ABC News, and The Cut for its innovative solution to the federal workforce crisis.
