As part of this work, Work for America seeks to inspire the next generation of public service through a digital/social content strategy that informs and engages past, present and future public servants. We’re looking for a social media creative strategist capable of developing high-quality social media content that translates public sector challenges into clear, culturally relevant narratives that resonate with creators, mission-driven young people, and civic-minded professionals across platforms.


PURPOSE OF THIS RFP

Work for America is seeking proposals from qualified individuals or firms to provide social media content strategy, creative ideation, and execution support across our primary social channels. 

The selected consultant(s) will play a key role in shaping Work for America’s digital voice and visual presence by leading the ideation and supporting the creation and delivery of 4–6 high-quality social posts per week across platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. This work will help ensure our content is timely, engaging, platform-native, and aligned with our broader creative brand and organization strategies.


SCOPE OF WORK

Ongoing Social Content Creation

  • Develop and deliver a consistent pipeline of engaging, on-brand social media content across formats and platforms.

  • Concept, write, and deliver 4–6 social media posts per week across Instagram (feed) and LinkedIn, with occasional content for Instagram Stories, Reels, and TikTok

  • Collaborate with team to produce content across formats including static graphics, photo-based posts, and short-form motion or video (where appropriate)

  • Draft all social copy, captions, and headlines, adapting tone and structure for platform-specific best practices

  • Ensure all content aligns with Work for America’s brand voice, messaging priorities, and accessibility standards

Creative Ideation & Content Planning

  • Within Work for America’s organizational priorities and brand strategy, lead creative ideation to ensure content is culturally relevant, narrative-driven, and strategically aligned with organizational goals.

  • Proactively pitch content ideas tied to Work for America initiatives, campaigns, organization announcements/news releases, program launches, and larger cultural moments

  • Translate complex policy or workforce concepts into clear, compelling, and shareable social narratives

  • Participate in light-touch content planning and weekly or biweekly check-ins as needed

  • Collaborate with Work for America’s brand & communications team to align social content with broader editorial and campaign calendars

  • Ensure that creative and tactical social content planning and execution strategies ladder up to the overall brand strategy set by Work for America

Creative Coordination & Production Support

  • Coordinate with internal or external creative resources to bring social concepts to life efficiently and at a high quality bar.

  • Coordinate with Work for America’s creative team to brief, review, and finalize social assets

  • Provide clear creative direction and feedback on visual execution

  • Where applicable, independently design or produce posts (static or motion) if the consultant has hands-on creation capabilities

  • Support light iteration and revisions based on performance insights or internal feedback


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Work for America is seeking applicants with the following experience and capabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience creating high-performing social media content for mission-driven brands, nonprofits, or values-led organizationStrong creative instincts and the ability to lead ideation from concept through execution

  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and structure across platforms and audiences

  • Familiarity with Instagram, LinkedIn, and short-form video best practices

  • Experience collaborating with designers, motion artists, or creative teams; hands-on content creation skills are a strong plus

  • Personal or career passion for mission-driven work, particularly in the public sector, a strong plus

ENGAGEMENT STRUCTURE AND TIMELINE

  • Engagement type: Independent contractor (individual or firm)

  • Anticipated term: 3-6 months, with potential to extend

  • Location: Remote within the United States

  • Travel: Potential travel to work events to capture content; Related travel costs would be covered by Work for America

  • Reporting: The consultant will work closely with Work for America’s Brand, Marketing and Communications team, reporting to the VP of Marketing & Strategic Communications

    Final cadence, workload, and scheduling will be determined collaboratively based on calendars and consultant availability.
